Day 4: God’s Covenant
Day 1: Who is Noah?
Noah was a righteous man; he tried very hard to make the right choices. Noah was ready to do what God asked. Noah had been practicing, listening and being obedient to God for a long time, more than 500 years.. Noah was 600 years old when the flood came. Noah died 350 years after the flood at the age of 950 years old! God said to Noah I want you to build a boat. It took Noah years and years to build the Ark. (Genesis 6: 9-22)
Day 2: God Speaks – Noah is Obedient
Noah believed in God even when others did not believe in God. Noah taught his family to love and fear God. One day, God spoke to Noah. “Noah, you are a good man, you are righteous and you live a good life with your family. But, the world has become evil and all the people in the world deserve to die.” Noah was shocked at what he heard, but he remained calm. “But God, these are your people. Have mercy on them.” No, then God said, “Noah, the world has to be destroyed. I will send a great flood that will destroy the whole Earth. It will rain without end for forty days and every living being will be destroyed. So, fear not, Noah. I have come to warn you because you are a good man and your family will survive the flood. You will have to build an Ark to protect your family from the flood. The Ark should be big enough for your family, you will also take many animals along with you.”
Day 3: Rain Rain Animals and Noah into the Ark
For the flood Noah put two of every kind of animal in the Ark. His neighbors laughed at him. Noah wanted to obey God even when others laughed at him. Then one day, a drop fell from the sky, and another, and another, and the animals began to come to the Ark. Noah packed them into his BIG Ark. When the water rose higher and higher, the Ark began to float. God covered the land with water so all the fighting and hurt would die. But so did most of God’s creation. It was very sad, it rained for forty days and Noah’s big big Ark floated on the water for 150 days after. Finally the water went down one day. Noah’s BIG Ark came to rest on top of the mountain. God said let’s start again so Noah and his family walked out of the BIG Ark.
Day 4: God’s Covenant
The Promise – God made an everlasting covenant with Noah and all living creatures, promising never to destroy the Earth by flood again with the rainbow as its sign.
The Sign – God set the rainbow in the clouds as a sign of this covenant, a visual reminder of His promise.
Significance – This covenant signifies God’s commitment, preserving the created order and sustaining life even after the devastating flood.
Noah’s Obedience – Noah’s covenant is also known as the Noahic Covenant, and it’s a foundation covenant in the Bible, establishing God’s relationship with humanity and the natural world.
“I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life” (Genesis 9:15)
